PERFORMANCE GUIDE
Best aFe Power Cold Air Intakes for Trucks, SUVs & Performance Builds
Five aFe Intakes Worth Building Around
From diesel workhorses to modern HEMI street builds, these are five aFe Power systems sitting on the shelf right now — chosen because they’re in stock, because they cover the platforms people actually drive, and because they answer the question every build starts with: what’s the first move?
Where Every Build Starts
Give the Engine What It’s Been Asking For: Air
Performance shopping usually starts with one question: what upgrade makes the vehicle feel more alive without turning the project into a full engine build? For most owners, the intake is that first move — it opens the airflow path, sharpens the feel of throttle input, and brings more of the engine’s natural voice into the cabin. No teardown, no compromise.
aFe Power builds several intake families — Momentum GT, Magnum FORCE, Momentum HD, Momentum XP, and Takeda — so the right answer depends on your vehicle, your engine, how you drive it, and whether you’d rather run an oil-free or an oiled filter. We’ll settle that below.
One note on how this list was built: we left out anything we couldn’t ship today, and we didn’t pad it with three versions of the same application. Five systems, five platforms, all on the shelf.
- Momentum GT
- Magnum FORCE
- Momentum HD
- Momentum XP
- Takeda
- Pro DRY S / Pro 5R Filters
Fitment reminder: always verify the exact year, model, engine, and emissions requirements before ordering. Similar-looking vehicles may use different intake systems.
A useful guide doesn’t start with the longest catalog. It starts with the parts you can actually buy today.

aFe Power 51-11872-1 — Magnum FORCE Stage-2
2011–2016 Ford F-250 / F-350 Super Duty · 6.7L Power Stroke
There’s nothing subtle about a 6.7L Power Stroke Super Duty. These trucks work, tow, and often become the foundation for something much bigger — which makes a direct-fit intake a meaningful first move that doesn’t force you to rethink the whole combination. Oil-free Pro DRY S media means a washable filter with no re-oiling step: exactly what a work truck’s schedule wants.
aFe Power 51-12162 — Magnum FORCE Stage-2
2011–2023 Dodge Challenger / Charger / Chrysler 300 · 5.7L HEMI
Some part numbers matter because they cover one famous car. This one is better than that: it reaches across three of the most recognizable modern rear-drive Mopar platforms and thirteen model years. If you own a 5.7 Challenger, Charger, or 300, this is your intake — and the oil-free Pro DRY S media keeps ownership simple.
aFe Power 54-76205-1 — Momentum GT
2011–2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 · 5.7L HEMI
The Grand Cherokee sits in a useful middle ground — a practical family vehicle that still belongs to somebody who wanted a V8 and meant it. The Momentum GT pairs a sealed housing with a reusable Pro 5R oiled filter, giving the engine bay a finished, near-OE look while speaking to a very different buyer than the typical muscle-car intake. Selected Dodge Durango 5.7L applications are also listed — verify yours before ordering.
aFe Power 50-70013R — Momentum GT
2019–2026 Ram 1500 · 5.7L HEMI
The fifth-gen Ram 1500 has become one of the most important modern truck platforms out there: comfort, towing, and V8 personality in a single package. The application is still current, the audience is enormous, and the sealed Momentum GT presentation looks right on a stock daily driver and a lightly modified build alike. One of the most-requested aFe systems we stock.
aFe Power 51-32322 — Magnum FORCE Stage-2
2011–2016 Chevrolet Silverado / GMC Sierra HD · 6.6L Duramax LML
A diesel list without a GM option isn’t a diesel list. This one covers selected Silverado HD and Sierra HD trucks with the 6.6L Duramax LML, and the oil-free Pro DRY S media makes it a practical fit for trucks that work for a living. Consider it the direct counterpart to the Ford system at the top of this page — and the most affordable entry on the list.
aFe Covers Far More Than Five Platforms
These are this month’s picks — not the whole catalog. aFe Power builds vehicle-specific systems for a huge range of cars, trucks, SUVs, and diesels, and we carry hundreds of them. Send us your year, make, model, and engine, and we’ll point you to the right part number.
Pro DRY S vs. Pro 5R
Which Filter Should You Choose?
Every system on this list runs one of two filter media, and the choice splits cleanly by how you use the vehicle — and how much filter maintenance you actually want to do.
Oil-Free & Low-Maintenance
For buyers who want washable, reusable filtration without the oiling step.
- Oil-free synthetic media
- Simple cleaning routine
- No worries about over-oiling a filter
- Well suited to daily drivers and work trucks
- On this list: the Ford, Mopar 5.7L, and Duramax systems
Oiled & Airflow-Focused
For owners who prefer a reusable oiled cotton-gauze filter and are comfortable maintaining it.
- Five-layer oiled cotton gauze media
- Maximum airflow-oriented performance
- Washable and reusable
- Common in the sealed Momentum GT systems
- On this list: the Jeep and Ram 1500 systems
Neither option is automatically best for every vehicle. The correct choice depends on how the vehicle is used and how much filter maintenance the owner wants to perform.
The Honest Answers
Hard to Install? Will You Need a Tune?
Most vehicle-specific aFe Power intake systems are designed to use factory mounting points and commonly require no cutting or drilling. Installation difficulty still varies by application, and some vehicles require transferring factory sensors, fittings, or breather connections. Five things to do before and during install:
- 01Confirm the part number matches the exact engine
- 02Review the included instructions before starting
- 03Make sure all clamps and couplers are properly seated
- 04Check sensor orientation before tightening the system
- 05Recheck all connections after the first drive
Many aFe Power vehicle-specific intake systems are designed to operate with the factory calibration — but requirements can vary by vehicle and by the combination of modifications already installed. Always check the product instructions and manufacturer notes for the exact part number. Vehicles with custom tuning, larger turbochargers, modified mass airflow housings, or other major airflow changes may require additional calibration.
Match all four: year, make and model, engine size, exact part number. Then order once.
The PitStopTuning Rule of FourOrder It Right the First Time
One Last Check Before You Click Buy
PitStopTuning carries aFe Power intake systems, replacement filters, and other performance components for popular cars, trucks, SUVs, and diesel applications. Getting the right one comes down to matching all four details — vehicle year, make and model, engine size, and the exact aFe Power part number — plus one thing many shoppers skip:
Not every performance intake is legal for sale or street use in every state. California and other states that follow CARB emissions rules may require an Executive Order number for the exact vehicle and intake combination. Do not assume one version of an intake has the same emissions status as another filter or part-number variation — review the current product information before ordering.
Editor’s Note — About This List
We Only List What We Can Ship
Nothing kills a good buying decision faster than clicking through to a sold-out page. Every system here was checked against live inventory before publishing, and each one is the only entry for its platform — no padding the list with three versions of the same application. Next up: a dedicated feature for each of these five, covering fitment detail, filter choice, install expectations, and the questions buyers actually ask.
