AEM — Advanced Engine Management — opened its doors in 1987 as a small tuning and fabrication shop in Southern California, with one goal: put the technology used at the top levels of motorsport within reach of everyone else. It was the first aftermarket company to build a standalone engine management system that plugged into a vehicle’s factory wiring harness, which took the bespoke-harness step out of converting a car to programmable EFI, and it pioneered the Wideband Air/Fuel Ratio Controller Gauge that made accurate wideband tuning affordable. That line of work continues in the patented X-Series widebands, the CD Carbon digital dashes — which read and log channels from virtually any CAN device regardless of who built it — and the V2 and V3 water/methanol injection systems. AEM’s tuning and logging software is free and fully enabled, with no hidden fees and no charge for updates. AEM is part of the Holley Performance Brands family.

Most AEM electronics are universal-fit and are not listed against a specific year, make and model — what decides fitment is the gauge cutout diameter (52mm / 2-1/16in), the sensor thread and range, the number of cylinders or channels, and what your ECU or CAN bus can output. Check those against your build rather than the vehicle list. The vehicle-specific parts — Tru-Time cam gears, OE-replacement ignition coils, the Toyota/Subaru throttle control module and some fuel rails — do list applications, so use the Part Finder for those.
