LIQUI MOLY began in 1957, when Hans Henle bought the name rights and the patent for an oil additive based on liquefied molybdenum disulfide — the MoS2 that kept wartime pilots flying after an oil loss — and entered LIQUI MOLY GmbH in the Ulm commercial register on 31 March of that year. That first product, Kfz 1, is still in the range today as Oil Additive. The company began producing in-house in 1978 and moved to Ulm-Lehr, where the head office still stands; motor oils followed at the end of the 1970s, and the exclusive canister shape introduced in 1987 is still in use. LIQUI MOLY now offers over 4,000 items in more than 150 countries — engine oils, gear oils, additives, car care and workshop service products — and is certified to DIN ISO 9001. Everything we carry is made in Germany.
