Genuine BD Diesel performance component.
The Killer Grid Heater Upgrade Kit is purpose-built to address a major flaw in the 6.7L Cummins engine that can result in total engine destruction.
Key Features
- The problem lies in the electrical connection to the intake grid heater.
- When powering the grid heater, 200 amps pass through a small bolt and nut inside the intake and over time is known to deteriorate and eventually arc and break off.
- This nut drops into the engine, leading to extensive damage to the piston, head, and valves.
- There are several solutions currently on the market addressing this issue, but they are very costly upgrades, they drastically reduce the amount of heat available to the engine and typically require tuning or don't work well in cold climates.

Manufacturer's Warranty — BD Diesel
BD warrants all products it manufactures or rebuilds — including turbochargers, exhaust and intake manifolds, exhaust brakes, intercoolers, flex plates, transmissions, torque converters, oil pans, fuel pumps and systems, and electronic monitors and control systems — to be free from defects in material or workmanship, and will repair or replace a defective product at its option. BD's published warranty statement does not name a term (it refers to a warranty period that is not set out on the page), so treat the length as something to confirm with BD before you buy. Coverage runs to the original purchaser only and is not transferable, and a claim needs a dated bill of sale or receipt plus an RMA number obtained in advance from BD customer service; BD is the final authority on approval, and issuing an RMA is not itself an approval. Removal and replacement labour is the buyer's responsibility — once a claim is approved and the part is eligible, BD considers labour at $100.00 per hour, and you may owe the difference up to your shop's rate. Competition use, sled pulling and drag racing void the warranty, as do misuse, modification, improper installation or storage, and unauthorised parts. Specifically excluded are sheared or twisted shafts, broken planetary gear sets, burned clutches, broken drive hubs, sun gear damage and cracked housings, along with damage from contaminated oil coolers, improper fluids or filters, fuel or air contamination, biodiesel and low fluid levels, and normal wear items and finishes. A BD transmission must be installed with a BD torque converter or the transmission warranty may be invalidated, and the installer must be a trained BD dealer or prove equivalent tooling and training. Coverage extends only to the original purchaser within the continental United States or Canada, and claims are ruled by the laws of British Columbia. Installing aftermarket parts may affect an OE warranty.
Warranty terms are set by the manufacturer and may change. Full details and claims are handled directly by BD Diesel. Contact us if you need help with a warranty claim.
