While ball joints are a wear item, that wear is accelerated by larger tires, high cornering loads, damaged dust/grease boots, and a lack of lubrication. It is well known that most lube shops are not tending to greaseable joints during maintenance, therefore a lack of lubrication causing prematurely worn ball joints has been an issue for the last decade or more. Maintenance free ball joints therefore seem like a great solution, unfortunately there are factors that can cause issues. If a dust/grease boot is compromised on a maintenance free joint allowing contamination inside, grease can't be pumped in from the top to flush out contaminants and re-lubricate the joint. The plastic liner of the joint then wears and creates a squeaky joint that needs replaced. Replacing a traditional press in ball joint takes time and can be a pain in the rear without the proper specialty tools.

Cognito Motorsports warrants its suspension products to the original retail purchaser against defects in workmanship and materials for as long as the purchaser owns the vehicle on which they were originally installed. Bushings, bump stops, tie-rod ends, heim joints and limiting straps are wear items and are covered against defects in workmanship for 60 days from the date of purchase. Components that are modified (painted, powder coated, plated or welded), improperly installed, or put into racing or exhibition service are not covered, and the costs of removal, installation and freight are excluded.

Cognito Motorsports warrants its suspension products to the original retail purchaser against defects in workmanship and materials for as long as the purchaser owns the vehicle on which they were originally installed. Bushings, bump stops, tie-rod ends, heim joints and limiting straps are wear items and are covered against defects in workmanship for 60 days from the date of purchase. Surface finish on undercar components may be considered for up to one year from the date of purchase. Cognito components must be installed as a complete system; mixing in non-Cognito hardware or leaving out required parts voids the warranty. Not covered: parts that have been modified (painted, powder coated, plated or welded), improperly installed, damaged in a collision, misused or put into racing, stunt or exhibition service; police, taxi, government or commercial vehicles; products sold outside the USA; minor cosmetic marks from shipping; and removal, installation, reinstallation, freight, incidental or consequential costs. Components made by other manufacturers (such as shocks) are covered by their own manufacturer. Coverage is limited to repair or replacement of the defective part, and claims are handled directly by Cognito Motorsports through its online warranty claim form.
